12/21 TFTM dance cancelled, but others brewing

The monthly TFTM open band dance, which had been set for Saturday 12/21, has been cancelled in favor of the TKMA Festivus event – (but keep scrolling)

Alternatively – as Festivus is 5 hours long, open band musicians and local contra dancers who want to break away for a little bit, will still have an opportunity to play and dance at the wildcat dance our esteemed caller, Neal Schlein, is brewing up through his friends at the Square and Round Dance Association of Southern Arizona.

Contra/Barn Dance
Admission is $5 per dancer (free if you’re playing a good chunk of the night)

Band call at 6:30 to tune, coordinate, and get the sound system set up.
Dance officially starts 7:30 through 9:30; if dancers arrive early and we’re ready we can start early.

Band and caller are donating their time; tips are welcome, and a portion will go to the Tucson Kitchen Musicians Association.

For Musicians: We will play from Shay’s List, with two additional tunes –

“She’ll be Coming Round the Mountain” (key of D),   (sheet music | youtube)

and maybe (if enough people know it)

“Wabash Canonball”, also in D.  (sheet music | youtube)

Time: 7:30 – 9:30

Many thanks to the Square and Round Dance Association of Southern Arizona for the use of their hall.TOC_SARDASA_new

Knowing how Neal, our esteemed caller, likes to mix it up, perhaps some square dancers will be learning some contras, and some contra dancers will be learning some squares!!
